Pickerington Board of Education Approves Memorandum of Understanding with Teachers’ Union
April 29, 2025, Pickerington, OH – During its regular business meeting on Tuesday evening, April 28, the Pickerington Local School District Board of Education approved a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Pickerington Education Association, the District’s teachers’ union representing 785 certified staff members.
The approved agreement extends the current Master Agreement contract for one year, ensuring continuity and stability from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026, under the same terms as the existing Master Agreement, which expires on July 1, 2025. The MOU includes a 2% increase in base wages for the 2025–2026 school year.
“This agreement reflects the collaborative efforts of the Board and the Pickerington Education Association to ensure stability and a strong start to the 2025–2026 school year,” said Board of Education President Clay Lopez. “Given our current financial reality, this outcome confirms the shared commitment to supporting our educators and students.”
Pickerington Education Association President Brad Harris emphasized, “We acknowledge the financial difficulties that the District currently has and will work with the District in November to pass a much-needed operating levy.”
In addition to addressing compensation, the MOU reaffirms the District’s commitment to reviewing special education workloads for its intervention specialists. This initiative underscores the District’s dedication to providing equitable support for staff and students, ensuring quality educational outcomes.
“This agreement represents our shared commitment to moving forward with purpose. I deeply appreciate the collaborative spirit of our teachers’ union, which allows us to focus on providing the resources, support, and environment that will help every student and educator succeed as we prepare for the 2025-2026 school year,” said Interim Superintendent Dr. Scott J. Hunt.
This agreement provides stability for the District’s educators and positions the District for a successful and seamless start to the school year in August, fostering a strong foundation for students and staff alike.
