About Color Guard
The Marching Tiger Color Guard is comprised of the High School Color Guard and two feeder groups, the Ridgeview STEM Junior Guard Club and the Cubs. The Marching Tiger Color Guard provides a program for all students in grades 3 - 12 that are in the Pickerington High School Central boundaries. The guard accepts any student interested in learning how to spin a flag, rifle and sabre, regardless of previous experience and/or skill level. There is a comprehensive training program that allows all students to obtain a skill set to enable them to be an integral member of the team. The color guard is under the direction of Ms. Faith Cardamone. Ms. Cardamone may be reached by email at PHSCColorGuard@gmail.com.

Welcome to the diverse and vibrant world of music at Pickerington High School Central! Our band program boasts a range of exceptional ensembles, including the high-energy Marching Band, performing at football games and competitions. The Concert Band showcases top instrumentalists with performances at winter and spring concerts, contests, and commencement exercises. The Symphonic Band offers exceptional students the opportunity to delve into the finest program material. Meanwhile, our Jazz Band course provides an immersive experience in various music genres and improvisation techniques. Nathan Stowe | Director of Bands
Mr. Stowe is Director of Bands at Pickerington High School Central. He's in his 10th year of teaching in Pickerington and 18th year of his career. Mr. Stowe holds two bachelor's degrees in Music Education and Performance from Capital University and a master's in Music from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music.

Tim Gorgas | Assistant Band Director & Percussion Instructor
Tim Gorgas | Assistant Band Director & Percussion Instructor
Mr. Gorgas is an assistant band director and percussion instructor for Pickerington High School Central. He has done arrangements for The Ohio State University Marching Band and three DCI drum and bugle corps. He has also served as the percussion coordinator for the University of Cincinnati Bearcat Band and percussion instructor for the Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps. Mr. Gorgas has written for bands in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Florida. He holds a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas and a master’s degree in composition from the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.

Matthew Hakes | Assistant Band Director & Ridgeview STEM Junior High Band Director
Mr. Hakes is an assistant band director at Pickerington High School Central and Director of the Ridgeview STEM Junior High Band. . Mr. Hakes has experience working with marching bands in Central Ohio, and has performed in a variety of venues in the Columbus area as a jazz saxophonist. Mr. Hakes graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree from Capital University.

Our ensembles perform four to seven concerts per year, including events and competitions sponsored by the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA). Paul Trapkus | Orchestra Instructor
Paul Trapkus | Orchestra Teacher
Paul Trapkus began teaching orchestra in 2010 in Colorado and has been teaching at Pickerington Schools since 2020. He has performed with many professional and festival orchestras, including the National Repertory Orchestra, Flint Symphony, and Boulder Philharmonic. In 2014, he created the award-winning documentary "Carry the Tune" with two students, highlighting why and how to continue making music after high school. His writing has been published by the American String Teacher Journal and Grand Mesa Music. Mr. Trapkus received his Master of Music Education from the University of Colorado Boulder and his Bachelor of Music Education and Violin Performance from the University of Michigan.

About Choir

Our Program
Choir is a year-long course designed to solidify the basic fundamentals of singing and ensemble. Students will develop skills in breathing, tone quality, harmonization, and work independently or collaboratively to perform varied types and styles of music. Singing is taught in a variety of ways to establish a strong musician. All learning is done in an ensemble setting.
