Pickerington Academy is a program available for students in grades 7-12 who attend Pickerington Schools. At Pickerington Academy, we understand that traditional education models may not suit every student's needs and aspirations. Using a virtual flex model, Pickerington Academy gives students the flexibility of moving between learning activities and environments based upon each student's unique learning needs.

Our mission is to provide a nontraditional educational setting that addresses the social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs of students in grades 7-12. These needs encompass a wide spectrum, including the necessity to address credit deficiencies, ensuring that students have the opportunity to catch up on missed coursework and meet graduation requirements. Additionally, our program recognizes and supports students who possess a strong motivation for early graduation, providing them with the necessary resources and academic guidance to expedite their educational journey and pursue their future aspirations sooner. We are committed to engaging our students through a curriculum that is specifically designed for their unique needs.

With our student-centric approach, we ensure that every learner receives personalized attention from our dedicated educators.
Through the APEX curriculum, our teachers have the unique ability to connect with students both individually and in small groups, fostering an environment of support and collaboration. Our passionate staff thrives in the online setting, providing daily meeting times for social interaction, building a strong sense of community, and setting achievable goals together.
We understand the importance of parental involvement in a student's educational journey. That's why our staff regularly engages with parents and guardians, offering valuable feedback and fostering positive relationships. We believe that a strong partnership between home and school is vital for academic success.

Our Expectations

Parents/Guardians
- Regular Attendance: Parents/ guardians should ensure that their student attends school regularly (in person or virtual). Parents/ guardians should communicate with the school if their student is unable to attend.
- Communication with Teachers: Parents/ guardians should establish and maintain open lines of communication with their child's teachers. Parents/ guardians should attend parent-teacher conferences, respond to teacher communication promptly, and address any concerns or questions related to their student's academic progress or behavior.
- Respecting School Policies: Parents/ guardians should familiarize themselves with the school's policies and support their enforcement. This includes adhering to rules related to dress code, behavior, attendance, and academic integrity.
- Committment to Education: Committing to Pickerington Academy is for the entire year unless, if a student does not log in for 109 hours of school time, by Ohio law, the student must be removed from the virtual flex school model and placed back into an in-person building.

Students
- Personal Responsibility: Students are responsible for their own learning and progress and are provided with resources to do so.
- Technology Responsibility: Students are expected to bring their Chromebooks to school fully charged.
- Time Management: Effective time management is crucial for success.
- Respect for the Learning Environment: Students should take care of the physical learning environment, including classrooms and common areas.
- Engagement with the Community: Students should actively engage with the local community and participate in service-learning opportunities or community-based projects.
- Communication: Students are responsible for checking school email daily for important information and updates.
- Adherence to the Student Code of Conduct must be maintained at all times.
- Committing to Pickerington Academy is for the entire year unless, if a student does not log in for 109 hours of school time, by Ohio law the student must be removed from the virtual flex school model and placed back into an in-person building.
