Discover Our Center-Based Classrooms and Comprehensive Services
Welcome to Pickerington Preschool, where we prioritize inclusive education through our carefully crafted center-based classrooms and a wide range of comprehensive services. Our approach focuses on creating an environment where children with special needs and their typically developing peers can learn, grow, and thrive together.

Center-Based Classrooms: Where Inclusion Comes to Life
Step into our center-based classrooms, where learning knows no bounds. With a maximum of eight children with special needs and an additional eight typically developing children per classroom, we've intentionally designed these spaces to encourage meaningful connections and holistic growth. Led by a team consisting of a specialized special education teacher and dedicated assistants, our classrooms foster collaborative learning and friendship building that extend far beyond academics.

Support Services Tailored to Each Child
We understand that every child's journey is unique. That's why we offer a comprehensive suite of related services designed to cater to various developmental needs. From speech-language pathology to enhance communication skills, to occupational therapy that nurtures fine motor abilities, and physical therapy for gross motor development – we've got it covered. Our services also extend to orientation and mobility, audiology, and even transportation assistance to ensure access to our enriching program.

Flexible Itinerant Services for Individualized Learning
We recognize that one size doesn't fit all when it comes to education. Our itinerant services offer flexibility by delivering personalized support either in the comfort of your home or at other preschool sites, including Head Start. This adaptability ensures that every child receives the education they need, tailored to their unique circumstances and preferences.

Pickerington Preschool, a part of Pickerington Schools' special education services, fosters learning for children with disabilities and their typically developing peers. Children aged three to five are welcomed, with free services provided to those qualifying for disability support. This inclusive approach utilizes peer models to encourage appropriate behavior, social skills, and communication. A limited number of tuition-based peer models, residing in the Pickerington district, are integrated into classrooms, offering all children a diverse and enriching preschool experience. The program adheres to Ohio Department of Education and federal mandates, led by licensed teachers following developmentally-appropriate activities within the Creative Curriculum.
Early Learning Development Standards
-
On October 9, 2012, the State Board of Education adopted Ohio’s Early Learning and Development Standards in all domains of school readiness to reflect the comprehensive development of children beginning at birth to kindergarten entry. The development of these standards represented a collaboration between state agencies serving young children. The state agencies worked with national experts and writing teams made up of Ohio-based content experts and stakeholders to revise and expand the standards.
